“The hate u give” by Angie Thomas is a story that is originally told by a book and since last year also shared worldwide as a movie. The tale it tells is technically fictional but is based on a real history of violence and harassment.
You might even came across the novel in your classroom to discuss racism in the present. It is severe and shocking how precise a recent incident and it’s consequences is captured by it and that it keeps happening in our world.
